Our Mission
The mission of Union Church of Cupertino is to worship God, to discover and understand our God-given gifts, and to humbly use those gifts for the sake of helping others. We seek to uphold and enhance our relationship with God and to bring people to know God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Union Church is an inter-denominational Christian Church. We welcome and embrace all faith backgrounds, knowing that we are enriched through the input of so many varied and rich traditions. It is all of us, working together and sharing, that makes Union Church a unique and enriching faith home.
You may not know Union Church is the original Protestant church in the Santa Clara Valley. Our history reaches back to the 1860s when our church began as a Bible Study in the McClellan home near the corner of Stevens Creek Blvd. and Stelling Rd! We have remained true to the independent Spirit of our founding, and we have no Denominational affiliations, and we therefore receive no Denominational support to help fund our ministries. We are called to carry forward the Life and Ministry of Union Church and God has entrusted that Stewardship into our hands.
Meet the Pastor
Reverend Mark J. Brady has served as the pastor of Union Church since September 2004. After 22 years of dedicated spiritual leadership, Pastor Mark will be retiring in September 2026. Throughout his tenure and career, he has built an excellent reputation for revitalizing congregations, successfully growing both overall church membership and Sunday School enrollment.
An ordained United Methodist Minister, Rev. Brady holds a B.A. in Humanities and Political Science from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, and has completed doctoral coursework at the Claremont School of Theology.
Beyond the pulpit, Mark enjoys golf, kayaking, skiing, hockey, basketball, and family outings to the ocean. He and his wife, Diana—who is also an ordained United Methodist minister, a nurse, and a counselor—are the proud parents of three sons: Nate, Ethan, and Austin.
